Who we are.

Gayton Probus Club was founded in 1978 and now has over 80 active members.

At each year's AGM a chairman [new each year] is elected along with a small Committee. This Committee meets each month to oversee and manage the club's activities.

Following the decision to close Richmond Hall, in Heswall, the club had to find alternative premises, and has been delighted at the warm welcome it has received from the Trustees of of the Pensby Recreational Centre, to which it relocated in January 2015.

At the weekly Tuesday morning meetings there are regularly 40 to 50 members enjoying refreshments, conversation, table tennis and bridge.

A monthly lunch with a guest speaker is held at Heswall Golf Club. Other activities organised within the cub include crown green bowling, snooker, quiz nights and a golf tournament.

The club also has an active social programme. Excursions organised for members recently incude  behind the scenes tours at The Everyman Theatre, Wallasey Town Hall, and M & S Cheshire Oaks; visits to the Toyota Factory and RAF Valley, and lunch on the Chester Canal Cruise.

Welfare.  An important part of the club's ethos is concern for the welfare of our members. Our  Welfare Officer works quietly and discreetly to check on the needs of members suffering ill health. He keeps them up to date with club news and goodwill  messages from other members and reports back to the monthly Committeee meeting. Members are encouraged to keep him up to date with news of any members with problems.

What does it cost?

We are not profit making and we keep our costs to a minimum.

The present joining fee is £5 and the annual subscription is £15. In addition the Club hopes you will join in the "100"club which costs £10 p.a., depending on the date you join.

The cost of the monthly lunch is a modest £17 for a two-course meal with coffee and "attendance money" of £1 is to meet the costs of tea or coffee when you come on a Tuesday Morning.
